Scripts vanishing on Edit, anyone having this?

This weekend i've had several instances where I will open a script in an object in world, edit the script, hit save, and after successful recompilation, the script promptly vanishes from the object contents.

The really odd thing is, the script continues to operate in the object, as if it's still there, although usually the 'pre-update' functionality.

Is anyone else having this issue, or know what could be going on? I've been jumping between RC8 and 1.19.1(4) and i'm not sure if that is involved or not. I've seen it in the RC8 a lot, I dont thinkn i've seen it in the 1.19 viewer, but not sure. :(

Haven't seen that one but I've been having problems opening scripts in objects today. I double-click and it pops open the editor but there's nothing in it - not even "Loading...' - and the title bar is empty. If I right-click the script in the object contents window, I get 8-10 menu choices instead of the normal properties/open/delete/rename ones.

Doesn't happen every time but enough that I'd doing Save Object To Inventory after every script edit now, just to avoid it (rezzing a new one doesn't show the problem).

This is using RC8 on XP. Sim says pending downloads is 0.

That sounds like the usual Asset server not responding issue.

This script vanish thing is completely new to me, and has so far only happened while editing copies of one particular item. I deleted all instances and made new copies from scratch, and so far, the issue hasn't repeated. Keeping my fingers crossd.

That happened to me back in March, while I was working on three scripted objects at the same time. Script vanished out of two, the third was perfectly ok. I never found an explanation. The objects were originals too.

No idea which viewer I was using, i usually have all of them (including Nicholaz editions) downloaded and switch back and forth.

But it is definitly not a new thing.

When you save a script make sure to NOT close the window too soon. If you do, you risk losing the script source code.

The client compiles the script, then uploads the compiled code, and only then uploads the changed script source code. And only if the script window is still open will the changed code be uplaoded. If it is closed, you lose the source code.

With Mono this is going to change as in that the sim will then compile the code. So the client will immediately upload the changed script source code. Much safer.

Not sure that Mono will really help in this regard. This is more of an asset system problem which I still run into frequently in Aditi (which has a much poorer db system) in the mono sims.
