Hi guys,
Is there any way to redefine a center in sl? As to what the prim rotates. When I create an object it automatically takes the absolute center as a reference. Id like to rotate a prim in such a way the base stays at more or less the same coordinates and the top moves left or right.

Yes and no, but mostly no.
In some cases, you can deform the prim so that the center is at the edge of the visible part. The prim still rotates around the center, but it looks like it is rotating around the edge.
Search this Forum for "door" to see good examples.
The other approach is to compute the new position and rotation relative to the center of rotation, and then move the prim to that position and rotation. Again, search these forums and the (currently really screwed up) Wiki's for mor detail.

thx Lee, I managed to calculate the rotation and substract the discrepancy.
