Is there a way to block the hovertext from showing through walls and ceilings?
I tried to search for a solution but could not find anything?

I have some renters that have hover scripts and they show on the floor in the apartments above it.

hovertext will not pass through 100% opaque objects.

that being said, even 1% transparency will make them pass. they will ALSO pass through any object that is using an alpha map for partial transparency. this is usually a culprit in stores/malls that have windows.

not sure if this affects your floors, but that's the first thing i'd look at.

Well thats the odd thing the floors are non transparent and use a texture thats non alpha as well.

It's really odd the hover text just seems to go through things.

Hovertext and particles shouldn't pass tru objects. That would give SL more reality. Even more, some particles should bounce againts walls and objetcs.
Just a comment....maybe i should suggest that to LL.

I submitted a Jira on this, and it got dismissed by a Linden for being "low priority".

It's not really a bug, but since hovertext keeps its size constant with viewer distance, it looks like it scales relative to the surrounding ibjects, and may go through walls and floors. The only defense against it is to put wall and ceilings distant enough so text won't pass before it's distant enough to fade.

I've had limited success blocking hovertext with Invisiprims. However the Invisiprim has to be a certain distance from the source of the text. It doesn't work well in all cases.

Note: I'm not picking specifically on you Bloodsong.

Why do I see too often people responding with completely false answers, annoys the hell out of me.
