I was trying to get particles to travel in a line from a HUD attachment to a target, while being invisible to other users. It turns out the particles are certainly invisible to other users and they do travel to the target, however, they appear to originate from one corner of the sim, at altitude 0. Has anyone tried this? Is this a known bug? Why does the world hate me?

Yes particles started in a HUD are emitted at <0,0,0> sim coordinates. It has been reported, haven't heard anything about whether LL considers this a bug or plans to fix it. Edit: the world doesn't hate you. It's helping you to become jaded

yes. if you want a hud to make particles inworld, you'll have to have to communicate with a "normal" attachment.
