I've noticed that llSetPos will move an avatar if you sit on the object, but if you attach it it will not. Is there a way to move an av from an attachment?

No. The only way to do this would be to have the attachment rez an object that then, either by physics or direct translation, places an avatar somewhere else.

Alternately, you can play with the effect of physics directly from an attachment, but I doubt this is of practical use to you.

MoveToTarget works pretty well on attachments, as I recall.

I have also had luck with MoveToTarget. It should be noted however, rotation calls, such as llLookAt, do not work from attachments. Sometimes the MoveToTarget will gradually adjust the av such that they face the direction of travel, depending upon the distance traveled, and if they were in contact with the ground / other objects at the time.

No kidding? I actually have tried tests utilizing llMoveToTarget with child prims before, and they didn't seem to function properly. I figured it'd work in a similar/the same manner for an attachment.

This calls for some testing! :D

Your avatar is a physical object, and llSetPos doesn't work on physical objects. Attaching a prim to your avatar makes it physical too.
