I have heard its possible to do this and I wanted to stream my shoutcast radio to a portable object so I didnt have to make 50 million 10 sec clips for each song. Unfortunatley I have no idea how to do this, can someone help me out?

At the moment, you can only bind streams to a specific land plot you (or your group) own, not to an object of any kind.

MSo is correct, Websnake. I think where your confusion comes from is that several people have scripted "radio" objects, but these objects don't actually play the stream, they just change the stream that is played by the land that the radio owner owns.

Okay I am sorta new so dont make fun of my stupidity.. but..... Yesterday I was at the public sandbox outside of Adhern, and this guy pulled out a speaker, and it started playing alot of songs. Is this just the 10-second clips that Websnake was talking about? Because now that I recall it did ask which genre of music you'd like to play.. I'm just curious because I'd like to learn how to do this Thank you! --Amanda

Amanda, I can't say for certain how that particular radio worked, but it was probably had a lot of 10-second clips that it played back in sequence. Someone could easily organize a collection of clips into different genres and play them in response to a spoken command.

I once heard a perhaps apocryphal tale about someone who scripted their jacket to play a streaming music URL as they walked around SL... could I please be clarified on the details of this and what actually happened? And importantly, who did this? It was a story I read somewhere before ever coming to SL, and I am curious.

From: Torley Torgeson I once heard a perhaps apocryphal tale about someone who scripted their jacket to play a streaming music URL as they walked around SL... could I please be clarified on the details of this and what actually happened? And importantly, who did this? It was a story I read somewhere before ever coming to SL, and I am curious. Someone was lying to you. The coolest thing I've ever seen though is a "boombox on wheels" that instead of playing music with words and such, it just mixed many different complimentary sounds in rhythmic fashions. For a while I swore it was just normal non-vocal music, but the pattern was deceptively random.
