I really really want to learn how to make avatars and I'm having alot of troubles with making eyes blink, tails to wag, and if possible, I want to know how to make a quadraped avatar. If someone can help me out or show me on SL, please IM me or respond to this post.
Thank you (:

I'll assume you mean full/partial prim avatars (meaning each part of the avatar is covered using prims)?

if so you'll want to start in building tips forum, a visit to Ivory Tower of primitives (inworld) will help you get going on the building end, there are also classes in building at NCI (new citizens incorporated, inworld).

for making skins to go with your primmed out avatars you'll want the texturing tips forum, definitely read the stickies there, as they are essential knowledge, especially the one on alpha channels

for quadrupeds you'll want to visit the animation tips forum, at least for how to build the poses that you'll need.

once you get it all built you'll want to come back here to scripting tips for things like moving jaws, blinking eyes, wagging tails, and animation overriders (a must for 4-legged avatars). I believe NCI also offers starter classes in scripting

best of luck, it's a tall first order

I realize you're looking to script this yourself, but you might want to look into a 3rd party offering called PUPPETEER. Todd Borst is the creator. I don't remember the location of his shop off the top of my head but if you check his profile it's in his picks. You can get a free copy for your own personal use, and there's a vendor version so that you can sell the things you animate. I can recommend it; I've used it to create objects beyond my current scripting abilities. So it you may find it worth the price.

I can highly recommend Voids advice on this.

No amount of tools will substitute having the basic skills and knowledge in place when attempting something of this nature. Even if you o then go and build your avatar out of piecemeal snippets you find o the forums and in world, understanding what they are all doing is vital.

With regards to Puppeteer I would be wary of relying on it too much as with higher prim counts it can be pretty sim intensive.

I have noticed an impact using Puppeteer on only 10 or so prims before. Having said that it dos do what it does very well. That is recording prim movements and then playing them back as an animation.

One tip Void neglected to mention is get yourself a good posing stand to help construct those prim avatar shapes around yourself :)
