Problems with Door Rotation

Total noob question: how do I get a door to open with a rotation that recognizes the edge of the prim as the axis, not the center of it?

I've tried several door scripts from the libraries in both the forum and the wikis, and yet I get the same result. I've combed through messages trying to better understand what I might be doing wrong, but continue to miss what's probably obvious.

Using a simple rectangular prim, I get a revolving door type of motion, with the rotation happening from the center, and not the edge. What am I missing?

Sorry to be thick, and thanks in advance for any guidance folks might be able to provide :)

Cut the box prim...Set B to .375 and E to .875..

(that script mentioned above, does this for you...but if you want to use yours other scripts and your own textures, just cut is yourself..)

still spins on middle, but because of cut, looks like the side..

You can also make the door out of two pieces, the door and a cylindrical hinge. Link the objects, making the cylinder the parent, and drop the scripts into the hinge. The door will then rotate around the cylindrical hinge.

I chose to do it this way as my door is not rectangular and is comprised of several prims.

Thanks so much for all of the help!

I actually had someone contact me inworld within minutes of posting this. He not only explained how to use the cuts to work around the axis issue, but showed me how to implement it and gave me an example. I'd love to mention his name here, but he's a little publicity shy. He knows who he is ... so I'll just say "thanks!"

I continue to be blown away by not only the speed of the assistance I continue to receive both inworld and in the forums, but the quality of it.

Props to those of you who take the time to throw an lifesaver our way when those of us who are new to the community are still struggling.

Cheers!

Sue.
