Ok, I've messed around and unlinked a HUD I'm making and screwed it all up adding a few prims. I have 4 bargraph indicators and and 4 buttons and adding more buttons later. I'm using linked_message to communicate from the root prim to the bargraphs, so want them as prims 2,3,4 &5 and buttons will be 6,7,8,9,etc as I add more. What order do I Link them? Buttons then bargraphs then Root or bargraphs, buttons root?

I know it doesn't really answer your question but Plan B could be to name the prims and have the root script use llGetLinkName to figure out the link numbers dynamically. If you're going to sell this HUD, you get the bonus of not having customers ask you for a new one when they unlink it by mistake..

That will make later changes much easier too
