Logging mechanism?

Hi, I was wondering if it were possible to save avatars' names who, for example, touch a certain object, and record their names in a notecard or something like that.

Say John Doe touches the object...I want to come back a few hours later and read a notecard and/or have a script play back the word "John Doe" so I know who touched it.

You can only store info in variables. You can't write to notecards becasue they don't want to let scripts create assets. (each notecard edit makes a new notecard)

Lists combined with e-mail will probably get you what you want.
