requesting link permissions

Requesting link permissions: In an object, i have 3 separate child prims with their own scripts that need to link and unlink. Do I need to have all 3 separate scripts request linking permissions, or can a master script in the root prim of the object do it for them, so the user only gets asked once?

No. In fact, PERMISSION_CHANGE_LINKS can only be requested by the root prim. See:

kk so has to be requested by room prim in your widget. Kewl, would rather just have it requested once anyway.

But what if the prim that is rezzing and linking the 3 objects is not your root prim? Are you SOL?

In that case, have the child prim send a linkmessage to the root prim telling it to change links as desired.
