Dropping no copy items into a HUD attachment

As far as I can tell, if you try to drop a no copy item into a HUD attachment (for instance dropping a no copy animation into a ZHAO), you cannot do it while it's attached. You have to rez the item on the ground to move no copy items from your inventory into the object.

Does anyone know of a workaround for this? I tried llAllowInventoryDrop(), but this doesn't seem to have an effect.

I believe that's true for any attachment - you cannot drop an item into an attachment's inventory if you don't have full permissions (or maybe it's just copy permissions) on that item.

I don't know of a workaround for this. Maybe I shouldn't have made the ZHAO transparent on 3 sides - it's easy to lose once it's rezzed on the ground :)

Yeah, I keep finding copies on the ground at my store :)

I used to think it was full permissions too, but I tested before I posted. It's only for no copy items and it sure is annoying. Would be a lot simpler if people could drop things into the HUD without rezzing it in the world.

No, it's not just copy permissions. I can't get no mod animations into my AO without taking it off. I can't remember if no transfer also chokes, though.

hmm... cause I dropped a no transfer/no mod vehicle into a HUD. Wouldn't that be just wonderful if it was just animations that was borked.

I've not tried no-copy items, but I believe that point is changed event. Did you put llRequestPermissions under changed event like below?
CODE
changed(integer change)
{
if(change & CHANGED_INVENTORY)
{
llRequestPermissions(llGetOwner(), PERMISSION_TRIGGER_ANIMATION);
}
}

[EDIT]I remember ZHAO has a reseting button like that. So you must have done reset after putting it into AO. My suggestion may be incorrect. Sorry.

Thanks, Seagel but either I've confused you or you've confused me. Dropping an animation into the inventory of an attached HUD object doesn't have anything to do with animation permissions as far as I can tell.

Yes, this is before you get to the point of trying to trigger the animation. SL won't let you drop an animation into the inventory of an attachment if you don't have copy permissions on that animation. And the attachment definitely cannot play an animation that's not in its inventory.

I realized what you said after my posting. It is really odd even though there is the way of solution at least. I'm not sure what is difference between putting it into the inventory while attaching and detaching the HUD object. It is a bug, isn't it?

Seems like a bug to me, and I, for one, have reported it in the past. Feel free to report it too, folks, just to make sure it didn't slip under the radar.
