I have never used HUD attachments. I am trying to use llSetText() on a simple prim box prim then attach it to the bottom right HUD display. I get the prim to display the text but as soon as I attach it to the HUD i can't see it. What am I doing wrong? Is there something special you have to do to get HUD attachments to display.

It may be attached but "off the screen". Try attaching it to a different HUD location, especially one of the center ones.

Also, make sure it's not facing "away" from you.

What is "away" from me? Doesn't the attach to hud automatically orient the object in a certain direction since is is kind of 2D?

If the root prim is a cube, side 4 will be facing you (the negative X axis), so if that face happens to be transparent, you may not see anything.
