not clear what you want here - mainly the term 'inworld email'. An object could obviously send you an IM.

If it's explicitly an email you require, then you could simply script an object to receive the emails and relay it as strings to you via IM. If you're talking about having it write it all out in email format to a notecard or whatever, then no.

Thanks for the reply!

To clarify what I am talking about, what I would like to do is to email my agent in the same way that I can email my objects using <key>@lsl.secondlife.com.

Why? Well if I have the objects hard-coded with my external email address, and that later changes, I have to go in and update all the scripts rather than letting second life send the emails on to my registered external email account.

I could use IM, but that will not generate hard-copy if I am in-world - and I am apt to miss those when I'm preoccupied...

Is this possible? Nothing I have tried works...

Hmm. Not really 'hard copy'.. it just isnt possible in SL, unfortunately. You could have a server store them so that they can be retrieved at your leisure. At least you wouldnt miss them. Maybe use a 'you have mail' dialog box you have to dismiss if you miss IMs? :)

As for the email change bit, I guess you could have a 'email change notification' function, so that the currently set up email address could notify the script via, say, a predetermined Subject line to accept another email address as the new default?

Ya know, like 'if email from masteremail address and subject is 'changeofaddress' then masteremail = newemail' type thing.

Just a thought :)

Thanks for the feedback and ideas, Kris. I thought I was just being dumb!

I think that the answer for me is an inworld "email box object"... that way I could have all my other objects email that and then have a single config point for delivery onwards to my offworld email.

Thanks again,

Wouldnt this be a decent reason to use XML RPC? You could have outside XML RPC call in to "change" your e-mail address if required at some point later on so that any object could recieve that change?

I am not that familiar with XML-RPC yet, I would love to figure out a good reason to start playing with it myself, so if I am off base can someone point me in the right direction on this one? :-)

I didnt see a response to this, so if anyones an XML guru would love to hear if my idea is valid / good. Would like to utilize it but not sure I want to go down that path yet.
