Hi,
I was looking to create a save backup for some parameters and checked the object description and the object name. To check I did wrote a small test thing to put in a string into the objectname Because it was a fast test I created a string from 0 to 9 and copied that 26 times (260 chars).. I runned the test and checked in edit mode and found 63 chars so the wiki was correct.
When I did a llSay to list the object name I saw the complete string of 260 chars returned to the chat ! But if I have to believe the Wiki max chars is 255?
Is this a new "Bug" or am I the last on that knows this?
btw I searched in the forums with some different keywords and couldn't find information about the above.
Regards, Hillie

its a form of a hole yu can cram much more into the name feild but it will only display 255
if i remember correctly some others have played around with this, maby they will chime in but i got the impression that this was not to be relied on becuase the name would eventually be truncated
