In the current Beta Version of H4, there was a fix implemented, and listed on the Blog, from an Internal JIRA Entry:

"DEV-10351: Reduced tendency of avatar to snag or be thrown into the air when standing up from vehicle or seat"

Sounds like a great idea. However as I'm finding in practice, it's not so great. Avatars are now pushed/launched when standing up in the positive X direction of the prim's local axis. so depending on how the prim is oriented, they could be launched in any number of directions. This change, while subtle, is significant as sitting is a very, very, highly used function in SL. :)

My own experience has been bad, people using sit Teleporters are often dropped off at inaccurate locations. I'm sure when it comes to vehicles, chairs, and what have you, Axis of the prim was never considered, as sits always went straight up. Now they will matter.

I would urge people to experiment with this in your nearest Havok 4 sim, or on the Beta Grid, and give your opinions here, in the JIRA. At the very least, people who create should know the implication of this change.

so they built in a bump that pushes the standing av in the local forward (+x) direction of the prim they were sitting on, or the global East (+x) direction?

either way, that's annoying. and yet slightly useful (I always did hate getting up from a chair only to be standing on it) since it would eliminate the need for offset animations.

Real handy for beds that sit against the wall in skyboxes that are rotated backwards.

lol, I just filed this JIRA, and it's already been made duplicate. Seems someone else misfiled one earlier, I missed it as I was only looking for Havok 4 issues. It's been assigned, but not sure if they will reverse their DEV fix or what.

It should allow you to set an offset for unsits. So a scripter could choose where someone unsits (or build the ability to config from a notecard or menu option).

that's an idea. The problem you mentioned with the bed, thats exactly what is happening with the teleporters in our space station. People are being ejected into deep space! ;P

Just what I was thinking. llStandTarget() ;-)

And this is just another argument for a Teleport function...

Then we wouldn't need these sit teleporters. :p

A teleport function that would work at any distance.

I have a machine that I would love to have an unsit offset. When you are done, it places you back in front of the machine (and not have to make it phantom so you don't get stuck in it).

if it'd been available from the begining it'd have been great... but right now it breaks alot of things...

Yes, I just became aware of a JIRA feature suggestion thats been open for some time:

http://jira.secondlife.com/browse/SVC-886

Add a function llUnsitTarget(). Sounds like exactly what is needed. It has 48 votes already, and yet, they do this instead.... :(

I'm definitely going to have to check this out since this will break a lot of different things I've built if they keep it that way.
