OK, this is a very dumb question, but I am a pretty raw builder (enthusiasm way outstrips talent). If I put a line into a script setting the LLsetbuoyancy for a bathingsuit to .9 or .95 or 1, will my avie float instead of sink like a stone when she wears it to go swimming? I realize if she swims in nonscript water, she'll be sunk, but a lot of area where she hangs out is running dance balls so it will run a floating script. Does buoyancy work with worn objects?

Sure it will work. Buoyancy is used in flight assists to prevent you from falling.
Honestly, since I haven't used any other buoyancy values but 0 (full gravity) or 1 (zero-G), I would say that anything in between 0 and 1 would just let you fall slower. |

I'm not 100 percent sure, but you may have to take the mass of the avatar into consideration to make it float.

I'm not 100 percent sure, but you may have to take the mass of the avatar into consideration to make it float. With llSetForce() that is true, but not with llSetBuoyancy() (which effectively sets a force of its argument times the mass of the object times the acceleration of gravity). You probably could also use a weak llSetHoverHeight() or llGroundRepel() to constantly be applying a small force to the avatar towards a height just below the surface of the water. I'd think that would be about as close to real-world buoyancy as you can get in SL with a single function call. ![]() http://www.lslwiki.net/lslwiki/wakka.php?wakka=llSetHoverHeight |

Thankyou. I make a lot of bathingsuits, and I'll try playing with the script suggestions on them. My avie is a bit overweight and female so she should NOT be sinking like she does. I am not particularly oeverweight and end up floating just below or at the surface when I swim in RL.
