The Linden Vehicle Tutorial says that VEHICLE_HOVER_HEIGHT is limited to 100 meters. Fortunately I didn’t remember this and I just flew my balloon-type vehicle up over 300 meters. Is this a new feature? Can I count on this working? Should we update the Wikis?

hover height delay

Separate question: When my vehicle has a zero velocity, setting the VEHICLE_HOVER_HEIGHT has no effect. Then as soon as I set the VEHICLE_LINEAR_MOTOR_DIRECTION to anything (even to <0,0,0>;) my balloon suddenly wakes up and goes to the height I set it to. (Sort of like Wiley Coyote suddenly noticing that he is standing over thin air). I think it is a reasonable behavior to allow a balloon to rise or fall without moving sideways. Must I always make a dummy call to set the VEHICLE_LINEAR_MOTOR_DIRECTION in order to make sure my hover height changes?

depends... is it hovering at that height, or is it just piloted to that height...and what's the buoyancy?

as for the other question... no clue.
