Hi all...
I have an object called Sender that I'd like to email another object called Receiver. What I'm finding is that everytime Receiver is rez'd, it gets a new UUID, and therefore sender doesn't know it's email address anymore.
Is there a common way of getting around this?
What I've done is implement a system where Receiver announces it's key, and Sender listens for that message and registers the Receiver's key, but it's a little clunky.
Thanks! Adman

If you can get a simple e-mail host somewhere that allows e-mail re-direction then you can get around this. For example, I own the domain haravikk.com, so I can have my objects e-mail say...slupdate@haravikk.com, which redirects to my update server object's ID@secondlife.com address. This way if the server ID changes, then it can IM me or something and I just update my e-mail redirect to send messages to slupdate@haravikk.com to this new e-mail address. It's possible to have PHP scripts or such performing similar tasks, so that when the object updates it can automatically change the e-mail redirect I set-up, but that's getting rapidly more technical In theory a free e-mail address may allow the functionality you require, so long as it allows you to redirect incoming mail, you then just send this to the correct address for your object. Just make sure your e-mails have some kind of unique identifiers so that spam or malicious e-mails don't cause unexpected results.
