I have a simple sploder script but need some modifications. Now it only says how much entrants there are and how much the minimum pay is, I want the sploder also to display in the hovering text: the total pot size and maybe even a countdown in the hovering text, say like I set it to 300 seconds it shows in the hovering text, 300, 299, 298, etc. Well that last thing is not that important but the total pot size is. I tried to add some lines from a tip jar script that does display the total amount donated, but that did not work, I got many syntax errors then. Well I do not know anything about scripting.

Can someone please help me with this? Please tell me what code I need to add where.

you'll need llSetText in your timer event (probably set to 1 second), then you just add in the current collected amount with (string)amount + " in The pot\n" + (string)(--secondsRemaining) + " second remaining"

I'm afraid that your script has bigger problems. Forget the cosmetic stuff for now, sploders that pay out based on random numbers can get you banned under the current gambling rules :/

Well I was told that the script was set so it would pay out every entrant at least L$1, and that it is legal because it is not gambling because everyone gets paid. Have I been conned then? Paid actually money for the script to get it full perm, thinking it is really legal. OMG that is really bad news.

The criteria is whether they have to pay to be part of the draw, not whether "they all win". (That, and whether the outcome is random or skill-based).
So yes, you have been "conned", though considering the hoops people jump through to try to justify their interpretation of gambling every time the discussion comes up, the seller may honestly have believed it.

ETA: Heh, considering what Viktoria just posted, I think we can remove the quotes around conned.

Well just reported the scripter. So if I had a script like the one in the LindenXploder that allows people to enter without paying the xploder, that would be legal?

I have the LindenXploder, and since I rezzed it and put some money in dozens and dozens of people TP in right under it. Instead of buying something or joining festivities they just stand there like zombies waiting to get some free lindens. Well to have my traffic based on potential customers only I do not have camp objects, and since the LindenXploder generates traffic based on people who are just hunting for free L$ I tried to make a sploder myself by buying a sploder script and making a sploder where people need to pay at least L$10 to enter, this to keep the free money hunters out. I contacted the scripter before buying and he guaranteed the script was legal according to the SL ToS.

Oh well, I just stick to my contest boards then, they are legal, people don't have to pay to enter, just want to do something extra for people joining our events.
