Is that a script? And if it is can it be used for wadding in a pool, something that will give you a small splashing effect when walking in a pool?

I imagine one has probably been made somewhere already, but I don't know of any.

The basic concept is reasonably easy to implement -- probably just a regular timer detecting if your avatar is near the water height in your current sim, and activating/deactivating a particle spray as necessary. (It would either be quite intensive on the sim, or a little sluggish to respond, depending on how you set the timer).

However, I suspect that in practice, making it look realistic would be quite hard. The main reason is because particles are always emitted from the centre of the prim -- not sure if it's even possible to move an attached prim accurately in that way. One alternative would be to make it more like a vehicle that you 'ride', but that seems rather overkill for a simple splashing effect.

I guess the other alternative would be having objects which simply follow avatars around a designated area -- that way you can make the effect work on any avatar in your land, without them having to wear or ride an object. That would definitely be rather laggy though.

EDIT: ooh, another idea just occurred to me, which is *much* more efficient. If you have a reasonably small area of water where you want the effect to appear, then you can just make a thin transparent box on the surface of the water, and activate volume detect. When it detects an avatar entering/exiting the box (i.e. breaking the surface of the water) it could rez a very short-lived temporary phantom prim at that location, containing a script to create a small particle splash. It wouldn't create continuous splashes as people move around, but it would be quite cool I reckon!

look inworld for Splashable Water. can't say for certain, but i think it might be a freebie. i know i've had it for at least a year. if it's not a freebie then i think it might be very reasonably priced.
