Im currently building a Bird of Prey ( klingon ship from star trek ) and i would like to have both its wings move into locked ( basicly attack and cruise mode ) positions.
Now im rather new to sl and i got no clue on how to link my bird up so that they both can rotate around another prim ( as centerpoint for each wing ). Can anyone shed some light on how to accomplish this ?

Hi, Elexia, Welcome to SL! I'm excited that you're getting into vehicle building; it can be fun and kinda nuts. An easy way to make a prim appear to rotate around another prim is to use flattened, cut cylinder or cube prims in conjuntion with SetLocalRot. By way of example: imagine a cylinder prim, flattened into a circle that is, say, 3m x 3m x 0.1m. Cut away 3/4ths of the circle so that you have a pie wedge, then elongate the X or Y axis to make it a bit more shaped like the Klingon warbird. When you link this prim onto the body of the 'bird, it will always rotate (when using llSetLocalRot) around the point of the right angle at the tip of the pie wedge, the center of that prim. Hope that gets you started! Good luck! You may also want to contact the Starfleet Academy group. I believe they have a few shipbuilders in their stable that could help you more directly than can I in these forums.
