I've experimented and talked to people and looked the at forums with no results, so I ask:

Is there *any* way I can build an object A, make A no-mod / copy / no-transfer, and yet still allow people who purchase A the ability to add and modify their own scripts, notecards, and sound files in the Contents pane?

Not for scripts, no. But you can use llAllowInventoryDrop to let the owner add in sound, notecards, etc... (but not scripts)
