Scripts and clothing layers

Like so many already have, I want to make some clothes that can be ripped off or apart etc. etc.

Basically, is there a way scripts can attach detach clothing layers, a quick look about and asking around produced nothing so I thought I'd throw in to the place that always gets me the best answer in the end heh.

Some friends claim they have skirts that do in fact remove the clothing layer, though I haven't seen them in action to verify.

Easy, though disappointing, answer: no.

PRIM clothing (that are object attachments, not true SL clothing) can detach themselves, but not change "clothing" itself.

Gloves, socks, pants, shirts, skirts, underpants, undershirts, jackets CANNOT be affected by scripts AT ALL.

Only attachments can be affected. By scripts that are in said attachments. provided they have the proper permissions.

At least with the standard viewer, it can however be done with a custom viewer.

for example http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/LSL_Protocol/RestrainedLifeAPI

However using a custom viewer clearly has the disadvantage of tieing you into that viewr and it may not develop in the way you would like.
