Hello, I have been looking for a soul catcher for a while now and I am wondering if there is any scripts avaible that I could get? because I only want to use it for fun.

It's a toy that RPs stealing someone's "soul" (ie, their avatar key), and placing it into a container, which the "stealer" then collects. Totally harmless.
The getting the key part is easy. The special effects to make it look good can be tough, though. |

I would suggest a particle stream targeted at the avatar whose soul you are collecting. Shouldn't be hard at all.

hrm .. sounds a lot like an RFID scanner ..
I got an RFID ( radio frequency identification device ) scanner that sensor detects everyone within a certain range, creates a dynamic menu containing their names .. . when you click on a name, it casts a particle stream towards the selected avatar and records their UUID & name in a list which you can then playback the list of recorded AV's. It doesn't rez a jar containing their soul, but, it does also shoot an avatar magnet, a mild push, and something similar to a foam bullet that seems to cause a lot of lag. Suppose it wouldn't be hard to rez a jar ... hrm .. might be interesting to rez a jar with a price on it so people can buy back their souls (or you can sell their souls to third parties). Anyway, if you want to beta test it, look me up in world. The only problem with LSL tools available for stealing souls with a particle effect is that particles are generated by the object containing the particle script .. thus, for a scanner or want with soul stealing ability, you need to rez and attach an invisible object containing particle script on the avatar and have that generate a particle script back to your capuring device. If you dont' want to shoot your target with a soul capture bullet, your stuck having the explain that the reason the particle stream in some soul stealers travel to the av who's soul is being stolen is because, in order to steal a soul, its necessary to inject the av with stuff that forces the soul out of the avatar .. you don't see the soul fly back to the caputure device because souls are invisible. Devices that purport to display a soul actually cast a halo around the soul .. you are seeing the halo, not the soul itself. |

If anyone has tips on how to make a particle stream travel from the target to teh particle generator (without rezing & attaching a particle generator to the target) please let me know. Particularly on making a 'looping' particle stream as described above. |
