Need help with setting up my vector teleporter

Hi,

First let me say that I know nothing about scripting. But I build prefabs and wanted to put teleporters in. Someone made me a vector teleporter but I don't know how to configure it. I do know how with regular teleporters though. I want to be able to put these in my prefabs and have them work no matter when the house is placed. I am told that is what this teleporter will do for me. Anyone have any ideas on what I need to do?

Thanks so much,

What do you mean by "vector teleporter"?

That is what he called it. He said that I will be able to put it in a prefab and then sell the prefab and the teleporter should still work without having to configure it.
That's all I know. I would ask him but he rarely comes online. :) I may have to wait for him though.

The teleporter script may need you to enter an "offset vector". This is the distance in 3D space from the prim with the teleporter script in it to the destination. That way when the person clicks to teleport, the get put in the right place. Hopefully the script is smart enough to support offsets and rotations so that no-matter where the prim with the teleport script is or what direction it's facing, it'll put the person so many meters away in the right direction.

For example, if it's supposed to teleport you upstairs directly above the teleporter object, then your offset vector might be something like:

<0,0,10>

Which means simply 10 meters above the prim with the teleporter script in it.

On the other hand, if the teleporter (and the script) are part of the house and all of it is just one big link-set, then the offset may be the distance from the center of the whole house. You'll have to ask your friend how it was written.

Ok, I think that I might actually understand that. I'm going to give it a try. If I link the teleporter then that will make it part of the house and it might not work the way I think. But I'll work on it.
Thank you so much for your help.

I got it to work going up. But now I can't figure out how to make one work coming back down. :) I'm going to keep working on it. Just wanted to update you and let you know that you have helped me.

thanks again.

If, like in the previous example, if you are using <0,0,10> as your offset... have you tried using <0,0,-10> to go back down?
