Hi

I used this function to create a sensor in front of a building. I want to decteced all the components of that building. However only the components in the front side and near the sensor can be detected. So literally I need to move the sensor to go around the building to detect all.

I set the range as 100.00 and arc as PI, so i think it should cover the whole building (it's a relative small two floor building). Are there any restrictions in regard the sensor (e.g. can not scan throgh walls)? How could I pass that?

Code:

...
llSensorRepeat( "", "", PASSIVE| ACTIVE, 100.00, PI, 30 );
...

Thanks.

The sensor() event returns a maximum of 16 objects/avatars, that's probably what you're running up against.

100m is close the max limit that is 96m
PI is fine
A sensor can scan max 16 items in one scan!!!
To overcome that you may divide the objects you are scanning.
If you know about the object's names and/or keys you can specify what objects you are looking for and make more scans with fewer items in each.
Walls are no limitation to the sensor.

Why SensorRepeat? is the building changing? if not I would guess that Sensor would do.

happy scripting

You can do it but it is a lot of work. Use sensor with a narrow arc and move it. With each move check for object names and only add what isn't in the list. Either that or you create a field of sensors that all send thier info to one script which checks names and keep tally. BUT that is the sticking point, each object has to have a unique name.

I have done it as an execise and was successfull but haven't used it since. Much easier to select the area you want to check and use the right click window to get the info you want.

Well, you can use keys instead of names.

We REALLY need better sensors in SL. An increased limit on the number of detected objects, or much more general filtering capabilities ("objects owned by resident X";) or both.

Yep, didn't think of that and agree with the 2nd paragraph.
