Mainland vs Island resetting scripts

OK - I my grip on reality is not always the firmest but is anyone seeing a weird performance issue on private islands when resetting scripts? Since the last roll back my multi-animation script just becomes a laggy nag whenever I go to reset it - but this only seems to happen on islands. And it doesnt seem to correlate to the lag already on the sim. I'm just mystified as to what I could be missing.

These days mainland and private estate sims run side by side on the same servers. If there is a quirk it is probably something specific to the stuff you have rezzed on your sim.

ETA: If the private sims happen to be openspace or homestead, scripts are going to run super slow. That's the nature of those.

Can I ask why this is? I do not follow some of the quirks of sl like this and just wondered....

Full regions run one sim per CPU core. Homestead and openspace run 4 sims per CPU core.

edit: all sim hosts at LL are all class 4 or class 5 servers - the 'class' is just LL's way of keeping track of which generation hardware they're running. Both of these kinds of mahines are dual, twin-core servers; 4 CPU cores per server. Any given host will either run full regions or homestead/openspace regions - they never mix region types on a single host. With 4 cores per server, that means a server will either be running 4 full regions or 16 homestead/openspace regions.

So... Homesteads are less powerful because they squeeze 4x more of them onto the same amount of hardware.

Oh... simple as that? I never knew that, makes perfect sense now.

Thanks Sindy
