How deep does MessageLinked go?

Hi guys,

I have a linked set of 6 prims. The root prim has a script in it that send messages to the scripts in the child prims in the linked set via MessageLinked -1.

One of the child prims has an object in its Contents, and that object has a script in it. Will MessageLinked also reach the script in that object, and if not, what is the best way to pass a value to the script in that object?

TIA

Rock

You can't. An object inside an object is the same as an object in your inventory. It is not recognized by the simulator until it is rezzed. You can pass it a parameter when it is rezzed.

A sciprt within an object that is, in turn, within the contents of another object doesn't run. It only becomes active if the embedded object is rezzed in-world.
