So I'm working on a hotel right now and can't figure out how to make a large room dark, such as a club. There are windows sealing the area, but the light just seems to pass right through the walls just fine.
The windows have 20% transparency.

Great question and it has been discussed before but I think in the Building or Textures forums. The short answer is that you can't.
The long answer is that you can use different tricks. If you own an island you can change the sun to night. You can try using phantom prims or the best results I have seen are creating your own textures.
Try looking or asking in the Building forum and someone should be able to point you to a thread that goes into greater detail and suggestions.

Ah well, I thought there would be a fancy way to do it via scripting. I heard you can make different rooms play different music

I think you could detect when an avatar changd rooms, and then change the parcel audio. This would provide the illusion of room-by-room music for one aagent.

Not impossible (you can put length of sample as part of its name, e.g.) but more work and more limited than just setting music url ^^;;

Yes, that's all very interesting But the topic is about light in buildings and the abundance thereof, even if there are windows.

There are a multitude of ways to script even the simplest of functions using LSL. We also use examples of how we do other things to describe how to do something else. For these reasons and more, we treat "topics" more like springboards that can lead us just about anywhere.

THREAD HIJACK BOT DETECTEDSorry Devoran, I apologies....... *waves at Jesse* From: Joannah Cramer you'd need quite obviously string the samples along by hand, though. Not impossible (you can put length of sample as part of its name, e.g.) but more work and more limited than just setting music url ^^;; Yeah thats what I thought, not ideal but workable with care.
