From: Moopf Murray I will be stopping access to the public name2key service I’ve been running for the last couple of years on March 31st 2008. After this time public lookups will no longer be possible either via. the web or email. I hope the service has been of use to you and there are now several other services available that serve the same purpose.
Two such services are: w-hat and GridFlow Technologies. Website links: Moopf Murray Name2Key: http://www.moopf.com/name2key.phpW-Hat name2key: http://w-hat.com/name2keyGridFlow Technologies Name2Key service: http://gridflowtech.com/name2key/.

you can get the keys in world, open the search window on all (not people) search their name. click on their name in the results (not their profile) at the bottom of the search window it gives a link. the long # at the end of that link is their key. totally legit, or it wouldn't be there

be aware, the search trick does NOT work for all avs, and isn't tied to whether the person has their profile blocked (because those still show up)... I haven't found anything specific that blocks the results, it may be that some are just not indexed (possibly because they are older accounts that haven't triggered indexing, by say changing their profile)...

I was afraid this might happen. I'd been talking to Moopf about licensing his service, but he said he had some big decisions to make about it.

Yes this is why I have always been reluctant to use any off world data services in my scripts. If the 3rd party stops the service your object brakes. I still see no reason why LL wont provaide a function to retreve the key directly, and some kind of data storage whilst they are at it But the new HTTP media looks like they intend to force even more content off world rather than in.
