Combat System, which is the most common?

I would like to make my own Sword compatible with the most commonly used system in SL. Obviously, I must be able to take hold of its source and add it to my sword. Since Samurai Island will not allow others, outside a few "Gods", the ability to make their compatible swords. I have to go with a lesser system.

If I have to go that route then, I would like to be compatible with the most common combat system. But I am not sure what that is.

Someone give me a few hints.

If you have an established following or a good knowledge of scripting.. you could try asking for the CCS scripts over at:

But based on experience, most combat systems are collision based and melee weapons usually work with some simple animations triggered by arrow keys.

Hell, a huge two-handed sword will usually deal the same damage as a roll of toilet paper in those combat system. :D

Yes, DCS and CCS just use collisions over 17.5m/s (ranged) and leftmouse + directions (melee). I go into it in a bit more detail here:

but that's basically all it is.

There is also the ancient "Safezone combat system", which some people still use I believe. It is a simple thing to put in, just requiring certain chat on channel 20... there is a free "melee kit" out there with some example scripts showing how this works.

As well as that, if people are going to use a hand weapon in a standard Linden damage zone, you will need to have it firing a projectile which dies very quickly and does damage on impact (think of it as a very short-ranged bullet). This also helps for effects purposes, as you can have it making sounds and emitting particles when it hits something.

I use all of the above with my hand weapons.
