One of my big interests is learning what can be done with the physics engine.
I'd like to talk about my experiments and explorations, but there doesn't really seem to be a proper place to talk about it. Should it go here in the Scripting Tips or over in Building?
It seems a topic that is a mix of the two forums, because it's a lot of prim-building... but some physics are very hard to do without some sort of scripting involved to drive it.

I've posted to the Scripting tips forum about physics topics before, seems to be the least worst fit.

I have an installation where you can drop two cannon balls of different sizes and materials off a leaning tower, does that count as a physics experiment? Cheers, Fairge

"Rosencrantz and Guildernstern are dead my lord!"
But seriously, I suspect this is the right place for physics discussions too, by and large.

Not the right place
01-03-2006 11:35
I don't think that this is the right place for it. There are a couple of people I've seen on the forum working on a physics based clock which is a far more complicated event than a simple llGetWallclock and llPutTimeOnAClockFace (okay, i made that one up, but you get the idea) Dedication to learning the edges of the physics engine (should be noted that this is not something I'm doing - I'm just a regular old programmer) should be recognized as a field on it's own and given a forum topic. If anyone with the power to do so is reading this please (and if you do have that power - when should we be expecting Havoc 2? Sorry, I'll try to keep focused - one thing at a time) let us know of this is a possibility. The varied experiments and exploits of the SL world should all have access to topic specific communication and for the physic experimenters that is not necessarily here.
