Hello.. HELP! :(

hello.. I am totally new to scripting..
I need a script.. It's basically a HUD.. that does the following..
1- resize a prim/prims (for example a pair of shoes that contain an upper part and a lower part.. you can resize both seperatly..)
2- change the texture of a prim/prims.. (same example.. )
3- hide a prim or reveal it
i am trying to create shoes

please help.. i really need the HUD script badly!

It honestly amazes me how people feel they can just come to the scripting TIPS forum and ask for a script or set of scripts that they want to use in a product to make money. The way I look at it, if you can't make the script yourself or find a script in the library that comes close and then revise it to do exactly what you want, you have no business trying to sell what you want to sell.

Kira, you will need to use several functions in this project.

The resizer will mean copying scripts to all the child prims temporarily, which was discussed recently at /54/72/301938/1.html . But since you're making the shoes yourself, you could save your customers some trouble in the long run by reading up on http://www.lslwiki.net/lslwiki/wakka.php?wakka=llSetRemoteScriptAccessPin and http://www.lslwiki.net/lslwiki/wakka.php?wakka=llRemoteLoadScriptPin so you can make the process of copying the resizer scripts to the child prims rather simpler for the end user.

well Laurence.. It amazes me how people make scripts and try to sell them too! I guess it's up to people huh?!

besides.. SL is all about sharing.. don't tell me you don't use other people's creations for your benefits.. This is why I am here ASKING instead of running around SL copying and pasting.. ok? and this is why they have that little tiny check box with copy and modify next to it.. If someone decides to share something they do it... what's your problem then?

I think the comment was less about the money and more about the focus of this forum. It may not have been said very politically (probably due to the frequency with which we find ourselves needing to say it), but this forum is specifically for the purpose of learning to script and helping each other DEVELOP scripts, not just find existing ones. Nearly every day we point a few folks over to the Products Wanted forum, where they can likely get better help FINDING the script or product they want anyway, or find someone interested in doing the job for them.

A lot of us here in Scripting Tips volunteer our valuable time because we want to help people learn to catch fish--so to speak--but don't consider our time worth a few L$ developing little scripts here and there, especially when it tends to detract from the very productive and educational contributions we make here. We don't want our Scripting Tips watered down, if you catch my meaning (and if you DON'T catch my meaning, imagine parading through a university trying to get teachers and students to design you an airplane while they're trying to foster an educational environment...).

now we're talking.. that's a nice and civilized manner i expect from people around SL.
First of all.. the comment was ALL about the money.. if he wanted to say it in the way you did he would've been less aggressive and COCKY in his tone.. it's none of his business anyways.. you have something good.. say it.. you don't.. well.. i'd rather not say..
or he could've even used a more civilized manner such as yours in delivering a message.. but i think he's having a bad day.. so it's ok.. as I said in my first post.. I am new to scripting.. if i intented to buy one or just get one i wouldn't have posted in scripting tips.. i do understand the purpose of each area in the forum and have read my way through it to eventually post here.. which was clearly a mistake.. no one (till now) offered to teach me something.. and i don't assume that anyone will do it for free.. hopefully not but this is what i've been going through.. i go to the script library almost daily and still have no clue what's going on.. not cuz i lack the brains.. but simply cuz the scripts are scattered around with no indication whatsoever of anything included in it! so i'm sorry if i seemed desparate enough for such a script but i did not by any chance expect to get the script from anyone here.. i simply wanted some guidance but instead I am being attacked for what you guys were facing many months or years ago in sl.. NOT HAVING A CLUE. and as i told Mr. Laurence before.. SL is about sharing.. I don't intend to make profit out of the scripts rather than MY creations.. i can put that super script in the ugliest shoes on SL and sell them for 0L$ and still.. no one will buy them.
anyways.. I OFFICIALLY HATE SCRIPTING.

Wow, Kira. Maybe you could have just taken Laurence's advice and posted in products wanted. I'm not sure what your issue is but it sure doesn't seem like it will be solved by getting a tip or two on your scripts.

Well, then you've come to the right place. We may not have the time to teach everyone scripting from the ground up, but if you're a willing learner and start with some good tutorials and documentation (such as those on http://lslwiki.net/) then the folks on this board are generally happy to help fill in the blanks, put you back on the path when any of it confuses you, and point you to the right place to learn or find what you need. And get this...all COMPLETELY free! Welcome!

I could've done that really and spared myself the agony of having to go through SCRIPTING (nightmare)! but what i really want is to learn.. I know it's not easy to teach someone such sccript or anything.. no one has the time.. i know that.. but i really am willing to learn..
scripting sux.. lol
but a tip from here and a tip from there might help
p.s.: i found the script i wanted.. but i won't put it unless i understand what it is.. and modify it
maybe my first post seemed like i'm only after the script but i'm not just after the script.. it's fun to learn these things.. and btw.. someone did offer to make me that script.. and i thank them for that.. but it's no fun to mess with something you don't know.
