I've created a HUD that communicates with a remote in-world server by e-mail when its owner clicks it ON or OFF. I would like to have some way of letting the server know that the owner has detached the HUD, which has the same effect as turning it OFF. If I understand correctly, though, I probably don't have enough time to send an e-mail from an attached event after the HUD is detached. So, is there another way to let the server know?

I just did a little testing, created a HUD which emailed when attached and detached. I ran it five times, and it didn't miss one, but I was in a pretty empty sim; it might have problems under lag conditions. You might have better luck with llHTTPRequest(); test it under heavy lag and see if it misses any events. If it does, you might have to resort to polling.

That's good to know. Thanks. I can't be sure how much local lag there will be where someone detches this thing, so I am trying to look for the most reliable solution. So you think maybe llHTTP Request will be a better option -- feeding the data to an external server?
