Does anyone know of a way of detecting the surface of a prim short of the collision routines? What I want to do is detect a prim surface at some distance from the prim with the script in it. The Sensor routines seem to work on the geometric center of the prim and without a lot of math and knowledge of the prim shape, this is nearly worthless.
I am trying to make a vehicle that can detect prims in its way before it hits them and be able to divert around them. Perhaps there is another way to do it but it anyone can help, I could use some ideas.
