Hi.
My knowledge of scripting is very limited. I know enough to make minor changes on existing scripts (Change hud buttons, button names etc) but cirtainly could not create a script from scratch.

I am creating buildings to place on the market. My next project is a skybox and would like to install an elevator with 3 stops. (Floors)

I've searched high and low for a full prim elevator system kit - and have come to believe that a full permission finished kit is not available.

I bought a full-perm simple elevator script (Not really an elevator system - per say) that consist of a flat, square primitive "car" and an elevator shaft.

You basically reset the car on the lowest level (Sets the XYZ position on the config card) and then manually enter the height in meters for each level on the same card.

You then say on local chat "Goto floor 0" or "Goto floor 1" etc etc and the car slowly moves, gaining speed then slows down and tops at the desired floor.

Well that would be perfect except for these things:

1. It would be better to click a "call button" to invoke a hud instead of saying in local chat

2. The customer should not have to "fiddle" with an elevator note card setup procedure - many may find it too difficult / tedious of a task. I can forsee unpleasant solicitations from angry customers about this.

One solution may be to place a special prim underneath the car on the ground floor as a position reference (rather than world Y) and raise/lower from that reference.

Does that make sense?

If I choose to study scripting, I can forsee hours upon hours of schooling - or I can hire a scriptor to do it for me.

Where can I find someone who can tackle my elevator scripting project? My project has halted until I find a solution.

Thanks in advance

Why not forego a hud and have buttons like a real-life elevator? That would be a lot cooler.

You'd just need each button to send a message to your elevator and have it move to a specified Z-axis location depending on the floor. Guess it's a bit technical to explain, but rather than explain how to do something like that, I just wanted to give you some other ideas beyond "a hud".

I don't really have time to help unfortunately.

I've just been in the scripting library playing with old scripts from page 16 onwards I saw a elevator script with buttons, you could start there, sorry I don't have the direct link.
