llSetPrimitiveParams() and llGetPrimitiveParams() behavior in attachments

Applying a rotation to a prim contained in an attached object using llSetPrimitiveParams() appears to cause the prim to rotate in the client view (albeit not usually by the requested angle), however this new rotation is not reflected in subsequent calls to llGetPrimitiveParams(), which returns the same value it originally had, until you actually force the avatar to walk around in a circle.

Does anyone know why this is? When the same object is detached, the reported values match the set values exactly, as one would expect.

In my experience, llGetRot() returns it correctly o_O
