a way to post to a web site perhaps? I am new to SL and am really trying to master the learning curve. I have a script going that lets me choose what URLs to tune in. I would like to know when the url changes so I can match it with WinAMp at work or wherever.

can it be done?
anyone wanna help a newb out?

Thanks in advance

Contact a scripter.. seems like something could be made so that it emails you the link of whats currently being played.. but then again i really dont know anything about scripting.

I'm sorry I thought by posting on this board I was contacting a "scripter/s"? My apologies if this is the wrong place.

I'm not quite sure what you are asking here, can you be a bit clearer?

I think what you want is something that tells you if the URL of the streaming sound on your land is changed even if you are not in world, is that right?

If you have a script that does it you could have the script also IM or email you the new URL it is using.

There isn't a llGetParcelMusicURL(); or equivalent command that I'm aware of though. That means if someone uses some other means to change the URL you can't detect it by any obvious means.

Hello,

I have a script in SL that that lets a resident, if they are on the user list, switch between a set list of stations, also on a station list. The script always displays the current station being streamed. I guess I would like to be have that URL e-mailed to me whenever it changes...

Clear as mud, eh?

So you want basically a "screen" on your plot that shows what's being played, and an object that lets them change it?

Head to the south edge of Magenta, look for a giant black board sitting on a white upside down pyramid. There should be a little readout on the bottom edge of the black screen. Is that what you're looking for? Something like that? With an interface to go along with it to let people change the URL?

OK, so you have somewhere a line that says something like:

llSetParcelMusicURL("somestring";);

Find that, and add after it the suitable replacement bits for:

llEmail("your email", "subject line", "somestring";);

that will send you an email telling you what the URL is. With a bit of playing you could add things about who changed it etc. depending on how you did it.

Bear in mind llEmail gives a 20s delay, but:

llInstantMessage(llGetOwner(), "somestring"";);

will do something similar if you have the forward IMs option set, and will only give a 2s delay....

And although I am happy to provide advice, check out LSLWiki... http://secondlife.com/badgeo/wakka.php?wakka=HomePage and hit the communications link...
