PERMISSION_CHANGE_LINKS, does your object have to be MOD for it to work?

If so, what is the point of this permission?

My current project I've been working on forever relies heavily on linking/de-linking, and if I have to change the object to MOD I'm totally screwed.

This is the error message that comes up when it leaves my hands ... Even after you say yes to PERMISSION_CHANGE_LINKS, this still comes up...

Delink failed because you do not have edit permissions.

I tested with MOD on, and that message still comes up when it does the linking etc, but it works of course being MOD...

Is there some kind of issue with it at the moment, because 4 months work could be down the tubes if PERMISSION_CHANGE_LINKS is useless.

Seriously... WTF? :( I'm stressing out bad here.

Another thread...

After further investigation:

1) You have to get permissions to change links.
2) Your Object has to be MOD for the links to change
3) If you're not the creator, the error message comes up no matter what(how annoying), even after requesting permissions...
(this only applies to a newly rezzed object that comes out of an object that has permissions)

Does anyone else find all of this totally illogical? Shouldn't it be...

1) You have to get Permissions to change links...
2) Not being the creator, if you have permissions, the object can link/de-link without being MOD...

Anyone?

Hmm.. maybe check to see if all of the prims have the same permissions before you link them? De-linking could do some weird changes to permissions.

Also check permissiosn on any contents in any of the prims.

Ya, it turns out the item that's rezzed from inside the object has to be mod also...

But it is still annoying that you can't link/de-link without it being MOD with the permissions...

The potential for abuse exists if you could de-link objects that were part of a no mod item I would think.
