I'm a complete newbie to scripting, i have dabbled unsucsessfully lol and while i now have a door that opens, closes, locks, and only opens to people i specify on a list basis, i would really like the door to only open to people who are a member of a group.... How might i do this???

Hopefully its a easy as dumping a script onto the existing door.

If anyone has a script that does this?........?

Thanks

You should use the function llSameGroup or llDetectedGroup (depending on your current code). If you need help IM me ingame. I'll be glad to help you.

Security doors, like doors in RL, only keep out people who aren't determined to get through them. It is useful to learn how to script a door like this (gotta remember llDetectedType()) but don't count on it keeping determined people out of a build.

Enjoy.

Hi,

I'm not clear on how the matching group thing works...if I set up a locking door while Group SuchAndSuch is active, and then switch my group off, does the group affiliation which was active at the script's rez-time stick to the script for matching purposes? Or, will an attempt to key the door fail if another group member (with group activated) tries it while I don't have the group active?

I hope that made sense. It's been a Monday :p

Thanks!

If you edit an object, you can see what group, if any, it has been tagged with in the General tab. That is the group that the script will compare against on avatars. It must be their ACTIVE group, however.

And remember that anyone can swing their camera inside your locked building and choose an object to sit on. They will then be inside and the lock becomes moot.
