How can I load sound in state entry but use it somewhere else?

The caching mechanism makes such things not worth them.
You can use llPreloadSound() or llSoundPreload()... not sure which of the two. But there is no guarantee the sound will still be cached by the users client when you intend to play it. In general, don't expect people to hear sounds at all.

I am trying to make a narrated tour - nothing too fancy - just get to a spot, play a sound clip or two of me speaking, then move on to the next spot. It would seem that with some appropriately placed llPreLoadSound commands and enough time in between talking points that it should be doable? No? Thanks, Doug
