I have seen some AV's particularly ones with prim based faces, such as furries and animals, have an animated mouth when they use voice chat. It only runs when the avatar is saying something but I can't seem to find any documentation to help me script it myself. Any help would be appreatiated.

Are you talking about in video, machinima style? As far as I know, there are no LSL functions to detect voice, which would be necessary to make this work.
The way they do it in machinima is by using a facial emote device to simulate the lips moving, and syncing the audio in to the captured video after the fact. Regards, -Flip _____________________

Thanks, but no. What I've seen is what seems to be alternating a prim between two rotations, but its only triggered when the mic is active.

Look up llGetAttached() in the wiki. Think you will find if you attach a plain box prim to your chin that it moves when your lips do.
The only script in the head the last I checked is a blink script for the eyes. _____________________

Ah I think you've just given me a great hint. So the jaw moves when you use voice? If so I can try and figure out what the name of that animation(well I guess techniclly an expression) is and then have a script check if its running and when it does I can have it trigger a prim to move to simulate talking on a furrys or animals face.

You might want to give Geuis Dassin a shout in-world and ask him nicely for the secret ingredient he uses in his Motor Mouth product (see http://www.slexchange.com/modules.php?name=Marketplace&file=item&ItemID=388447 ).
I do remember the Lindens mentioned something about custom animations for voice back before voice was even in Beta but I know nothing more than that. If you do find the animation in the get animation list for the mouth movement you'd have cracked it. _____________________

In Inventory => library => gestures => speech gestures Drag them onto your AV so they get activated, when you talk now, you AV moves on your voice |
