Hey guys, I was looking around the other day for a complete list of all the simulator names in SL and couldn't really find it. I queried Jesse Linden and got the reply: http://stats.slbuzz.com/sims/browse/I KNOW THIS ISN'T NEW INFORMATION. However, I couldn't find via search and it wasn't readily available otherwise as I could tell at the time. Hopefully this re-statement of this site will help out other folks as well.

How does one query this from a script?
(Or is this thread completely off-topic?)

You cant get a complete list of simulators from LSL. You can use the dataserver to get lots of info about a particular sim once you know its name, but thats it.
I loaded all of the sim names from the above website into a mysql database.

Sim names

Any list of Sim names is dated within hours, since several are added daily... also, considering the sheer number of sims, and say, an average sim name word lengh of 5 or 6 characters, any function to return all sim names would surely be more data than a mere 16k could hold.
