This just came up on the Scripting Tips list... http://flyingfrogblog.blogspot.com/2009/01/mono-22-still-leaks-memory.htmlIf this is caused by the conservative garbage collector that's going to make it hard to fix. This problem has been the bane of garbage collectors since the days of the great QUUX, who penned this in '79: Reclaimer, spare that tree! Take not a single bit! It used to point to me, Now I'm protecting it.

I'd be curious to see if LL's implementation actually has this inherit leak. Considering the script count some sims are maintaining, a leak like that would be so bloody apparent that sims would require a reboot every few hours just to be functional. (O.o)

Well, that particular leak was created by deliberately setting up the worst case (the self-referential list) and doing nothing but creating and abandoning nodes as fast as it can. This wouldn't happen nearly as quickly in normal use but would explain why some sims seem to require restarts on a regular basis.

...methinks we should wait until it works...
...given that it's been nearly four years in the making, we can probably expect a viable implementation well before... 2015.
