Is it possible to freeze someone with a script? This could be really useful instead of just ejecting a person with a script.
Thank,

There are plenty of 'freeze' traps out that will cage a person already out.

I'm not looking for a trap, I am wondering if there is a function that will actually use the freeze command?

Okay, thanks. I guess I'll have to go with security grab and remove traps then.

Either that or don't hang around people that need ejecting.
In two and a half years, I think I've had to eject a half dozen people and ban two. It's not one of my high priority things to worry about. BTW, you should know that unless you are the land owner or on a sim where such things are allowed, you can get yourself AR'd for trapping someone. _____________________

There's no LSL access to freeze - probably because it could be used to grief people who mistakenly stray onto some power-hungry jerks land for a second..

Well, I plan to use this for my land. A type of anti-grief system.

Griefers? Pfffttt! Just ignore them. They get bored and go away when they find out you don't want to play.

Or I could just eject and ban them. Then I won't ever have to play with them again!

Nah.... They LOVE it. All they do is come back as their alts, and they bring all their friends. Don't play their game... ignore it.

No, there is no way via LSL to do the equivalent of a land owner's "Freeze". The best you can do is add to the ban list, eject, and/or teleport them home. Many security systems do a combination of all three: add to the ban list (usually for a temporary period to avoid filling up the list to the 300 avatar limit); wait for a moment; if they are still around, eject; wait a moment; if they are still around, teleport home.
http://www.lslwiki.net/lslwiki/wakka.php?wakka=llAddToLandBanList http://www.lslwiki.net/lslwiki/wakka.php?wakka=llEjectFromLand http://www.lslwiki.net/lslwiki/wakka.php?wakka=llTeleportAgentHome And yes, it is against the TOS/CS to cage (or freeze I suppose) someone arbitrarily even if you own the land. Even ban/eject/teleport home can be against the TOS if you use it incorrectly. For example, if you have a system that is simply going to eject/TP people if they enter a controlled space without being on an access list, you MUST give them a warning a reasonable amount of time before doing it, and allow them the opportunity to pass the rest of the way through or otherwise leave on their own. There were several people who got in trouble for not giving sufficient warning once upon the time, and wound up messing with many people who were innocently flying over mainland parcels on their way somewhere. |
