Anyone know or able to help me find a security system basicly it was like 3d map in a box seen many version of them and basicly shows a dot and name person and distance they are. if you owned a big building you could even make a mini scale of it have them show up and where they are in it..

Anyone have a clue what Im talking about :)

if it's what I'm thinking of, it's using the llSensor (or multiple llSensors with relaying prims to combat distance) to get the position of someone. the information is then sent to a map where a prim is spawned on the map relative to the data the sensor returned. if you want to "map" someone farther than 96m away (max range of a sensor), you'll need to have more than 1 sensor and a relay "node" that will transfer the info back to the map.

I was just wondering about this.

The other day I did an llSensor and got back avatars in a skybox 300m above me.

Is this 96m limit only in the x and y direction?

a quick in game test is telling me that the limit is in the Z axis also. what might have happened is the avatars were moving very fast and at the time of the scan were in range, but were out of range when you sorted through the info

something else of note is that sensors cannot detect things across sime borders as there is a 5 second delay in information transmitted (the sensor gets what info is available *now* and doesn't receive the info that's 5 seconds behind). this can be tested with a simple control leash that crosses a border. there will be a 5 second delay between commands sent and recieved, also targeting for particle effects can get "Funky" on sime border crossings.

Yes, I've gotten some odd ball readings like that since 1.7, I haven't noticed any reason behind them; just things reported well out of max range in various directions.

Also I may have the device you are looking for Jessy. I have a sim wide sensor network system / 3D display that displays Scripted objects, AV's and can also model major builds in the sim (buildings roads etc). It's also a security system, visitor tracker, sim controller etc etc. The product isn't fully complete and is not yet forsale because several planned features have yet to be implemented but most of what you are talking about is already working. I might be willing to lend you an Alpha version if you are interested in providing feedback on the implemented functions. IM me in world for more information or a demonstration.

What I'd like is a mod version of the usual AV detector. I'm looking to add some ACTIVE scanning and touch commands.

Writing one of these is a good intermediate script project. It requires the use of sensors, linked messages and chat. Requires the user to make develope object-object comms.

I remember once upon a time writing one of these (no idea what i ever did with it).

No, there's something funky about sensors and large Z offsets. I've been standing next to the Taco telehub and had a sensor detect a very stable and unmoving Arito Cotton 500 meters away in a skybox on the other side of the sim. At the same time it's properly detecting the folks next to me and properly not detecting the 6 people in Dwellget 350 meters away.

Since Taco is a single-sim island there's no border issues.

of course they do, how else would you end up there when you targeted your teleport somewhere else =)

there's freebie antennae av detectors all over the place, that you can usually spot because they spam "making icon for avatar xyz" and "deleting icon...."... these make litle prim dots that are scaled by distance and direction... set on top of a map, they'd be an instant version of what you want.... dunno if I have on in inventory, but if so I'll drop it on you... I believe the script is viewable so you could learn from it.
