I was toying with the idea of using a slider for a new project. But I have no experiences with them. I have only seen sliders used by a few other scripts. I was wondering if some one with some experience with sls sliders, could give me a few tips on how to script them.

Also can a slider be done in a link set, or dose it have to be it's own object?

what exactly do you mean by sliders?

Like a Windows control slider something like this:

0------50-------100
^

Where the user would grab an object, and can slide it left and right? If that's the case then you would set grabbing to true and only on a horizontal axis. Give it a distance it's allowed to slide between... make it an easy number for conversions. Say you use 2 meters allowed for sliding, where 1 meter would be at 50%, 0.5m would be at 25% and 1.5m would be at 75%. You'd make the object physical, and then then you could use the touch_end event handler to determine where it was stopped (meaning the user released the mouse button/grab). Something along those lines, i'm sure someone else could explain it a bit better though. Just a suggestion to get you started.

For the more technically minded - the problem is actually NOT the asset server (or 'asshat' as you prefer to affectionately call it herein).

This side up, kind of fitting
yes that is what I ment by a slider. if it's a physical thing,t hen I guess it can't be done in a link set.

Take a look at Xylors XyObject (should find a landmark in his profile)
It uses a very nice slider (consequently if you buy one all the scripts are mod).
