Is there a way to animate a secondary character to stay in your shop while you're not online?

Not a real logged-in avatar, and not via scripting, no. You would need to create an AI viewer for that. Not an undertaking for the faint of heart nor short of Master's programming skills.  |

make a simpel animations script.
make it run on timer liker every 30sek it runs x animation.
log on you alt true a normal client. get it there and get animation premision on the new object..
Log off and start you AI client and it shud still have the premision for animations.
