Andy yes its posisble, however this forum is not here to get other people to write scripts for you, just to help out when you get stuck writing your own scripts. What you need to do is reasonably trivial: When av approaches within trigger range (llSensor or llVolumeDetect..) Add to List of near by av's Say Hello (llPlaySound or llTriggerSound) When an av on the list gets beyond a limit (llSensor or llVolumeDetect again) delete from List of near by av's Say Goodbye (llPlaySound or llTriggerSound) The problem will be if people TP away rather than walk/fly. You may find that your sound cannot be heard at a specifc range due to its volume/fall off characteristics

Andy, Try searching the SCRIPT LIBRARY for 'Proximity' or 'Sensor'. The library has complete scripts that you can use. Here's one that makes a 'radar' to detect avitars: http://forums.secondlife.com:80/showthread.php?t=4629&highlight=sensor
